Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 032006 (2008) [4 pages]Possible Solution of the J/ψ Production PuzzleReceived 21 September 2007; published 24 January 2008 We argue that the s-channel cut contribution to J/ψ hadroproduction can be significantly larger than the usual cut contribution of the color-singlet mechanism, which is known to underestimate the experimental measurements. A scenario accounting for intermediate cc̅ interactions is proposed that reproduces the data at low and midrange transverse momenta PT from the Fermilab Tevatron and BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The J/ψ produced in this manner are polarized predominantly longitudinally. © 2008 The American Physical Society URL:
