Phys. Rev. Lett. 102, 213401 (2009) [4 pages]Production of the Smallest QED Atom: True Muonium (μ+μ-)Received 22 April 2009; published 26 May 2009 The “true muonium” (μ+μ-) and “true tauonium” (τ+τ-) bound states are not only the heaviest, but also the most compact pure QED systems. The rapid weak decay of the τ makes the observation of true tauonium difficult. However, as we show, the production and study of true muonium is possible at modern electron-positron colliders. © 2009 The American Physical Society URL:
