Lett. 21, 1016–1018 (1968)Effect of Photomeson Production by the Universal Radiation Field on High-Energy Cosmic RaysReceived 25 March 1968; published in the issue dated 30 September 1968 We have made a detailed calculation of the lifetime and attentuation mean free path of high-energy cosmic rays against photomeson production. The calculation utilized the results of recent laboratory studies of photomeson production which have become available since 1966.
