A study of γ-ray intensities following neutron capture in Mo92 and Mo98 provides evidence for a simple reaction mechanism which dominates the decay of the compound nuclear state. The intensities are largely accounted for by the motion of a valency neutron in transitions of the type p3/2d3/2, d5/2, or s1/2, and p1/2s1/2 or d3/2.
