Phys. Rev. Lett. 32, 1417–1420 (1974)Electron Distribution Function for a Weakly Ionized Flowing Gas in an Electric FieldReceived 8 April 1974; published in the issue dated 24 June 1974 The Lorentz gas approximation to the Boltzmann collision integral for a weakly ionized gas is generalized to the case of a flowing gas, and the electron distribution function for such a gas in a time-varying electric field is derived. Several limiting cases are discussed. The results are applicable to problems of shock waves, gas lasers, and plasma-microwave interactions. © 1974 The American Physical Society URL:
