Lett. 39, 1201–1205 (1977)Universal Jump in the Superfluid Density of Two-Dimensional SuperfluidsReceived 16 September 1977; published in the issue dated 7 November 1977 We observe that recent theories of phase transitions in the two-dimensional XY model predict a universal jump in the superfluid density of 4He films as Tc is approached from below. Specifically, we find that limT→Tc-ρs(T)/T=3.52×10-9 g/cm2°K. Analogous results should hold for two-dimensional planar magnets and liquid crystals. © 1977 The American Physical Society URL:
