Phys. Rev. Lett. 52, 2293–2296 (1984)Negative Differential Resistance and Instability in NbSe3Received 7 February 1984; published in the issue dated 18 June 1984 We report the observation of negative differential resistance and dynamic instability in the sliding charge-density-wave state of NbSe3. The instabilities are characterized by an unusually large 1/f noise and intermittent chaoticlike response. We interpret our results in terms of domain coupling in the charge-density-wave condensate, resulting in hopping between distinct current-carrying states. © 1984 The American Physical Society URL:
