Lett. 55, 776–778 (1985)Symmetry Breaking in the Lattice Abelian Higgs ModelReceived 24 June 1985; published in the issue dated 19 August 1985 A new gauge-invariant order parameter is introduced for the Abelian Higgs model and used to prove the existence of a phase transition for the lattice theory in three or more dimensions.
