We have observed 99 decays of the charmed strange meson, the Ds+ (formerly called the F+), into the φπ+ (61) and K¯*0K+ (38) final states in the Fermilab photoproduction experiment E-691. We determine the lifetime to be (0.48-0.05+0.06±0.02)×10-12 s. Using our reported measurement of the D0 lifetime, we calculate the ratio τ(Ds+)/τ(D0)=(1.10±0.15±0.04).
