We report the first measurements of the electron-stimulated-desorption ion-angular-distributions of negative ions from surfaces. The angular distributions of F- ions for electron-stimulated desorption of PF3, NF3, and (CF3)2CO on Ru(0001) depend on the molecular geometry and the state of the adsorbed species. The structural information obtained from these negative-ion studies complements that from similar positive-ion studies.
