In an adiabatic approximation for the simultaneous propagation of two optical pulses in a dielectric medium with clamped quantum phase, we reduce the Maxwell wave equation to a matrix equation with a non-Hermitian propagation kernel. Numerical simulations confirm novel consequences of an analytic solution that we identify as a two-photon-resonant propagation law.
