Phys. Rev. Lett. 78, 2046–2049 (1997)Precision Rotation Measurements with an Atom Interferometer GyroscopeReceived 10 September 1996; published in the issue dated 17 March 1997 We report the demonstration of a Sagnac-effect atom interferometer gyroscope which uses stimulated Raman transitions to coherently manipulate atomic wave packets. We have measured the Earth's rotation rate, and demonstrated a short-term sensitivity to rotations of 2×10-8(rad/s)/√Hz. © 1997 The American Physical Society URL:
