The apparent temperatures measured with double ratios of fragment isotope yields display fluctuations that can be attributed to the sequential decay of heavier particle unstable nuclei. Empirical correction factors which minimize these fluctuations have been obtained for 18 isotope thermometers. These factors appear to be common to the three reactions studied suggesting their application to different reactions at different incident energies.
