Lett. 79, 225–228 (1997)Rigid-Rotor Vlasov Equilibrium for an Intense Charged-Particle Beam Propagating through a Periodic Solenoidal Magnetic FieldReceived 3 April 1997; published in the issue dated 14 July 1997 A new rigid-rotor Vlasov equilibrium is obtained for an intense, axisymmetric charged-particle beam with uniform density in the radial direction propagating through a periodic solenoidal focusing field. The beam envelope equation is derived, and examples of periodically focused rigid-rotor Vlasov equilibria are presented.
