We study the effect of spin injection into s- and d-wave superconductors. The quantities of interest include the amount of injected magnetization ( m), the induced spin-dependent current ( Is), and boundary voltage ( Vs). In general, Andreev reflection makes each of the three quantities depend on a different combination of the boundary and bulk contributions. We identify the conditions under which some of these quantities depend solely on the bulk properties. We also establish a correlation between the Andreev bound states and the spin-injection characteristics, which implies a strong directional dependence of spin injection into high temperature superconductors.
