Examples of Common Errors in References
[1] {Eesly86} G. L. Eesly, Phys. Rev. B 33, 2144 (1986)
First author name misspelled.
[2] {potasio1} F. S. Cataliotti, E. A. Cornell, C. Fort, M. Inguscio, F. Marin, M. Predevelli, L. Ricci, and G. M. Tino, Phys. Rev. A 57, 1136 (1998)
One of the authors is misspelled. Note that cases such as this require quite close inspection.
[3] {oh2000} Y. Oh, A. I. Titov and T. S. Lee, Phys. Rev. C 63, 025201 (2001)
The names are technically correct but the full list of initials has not been given. It is APS style to list the full initials.
[4] {Eesly87} G. L. Eesly, Phys. Rev. Lett. 58, 1680 (1987)
Author names do not match at all. Either volume, page, or authors are incorrect.
[5] {Dieleman99} D. J. Dieleman, A. F. Koenderink, A. F. M. Arts, and H. W. de Wijn, Phys. Rev. B 60, 14791 (1999)
Page number incorrect. Possible correct matches are shown based on combinations of the first author and volume or page number. Usually, the error is obvious.
[6] {Birge} D. L. Lesley-Pelecky and N. O. Birge, Phys. Rev. Lett. 72, 1232 (1992)
Name misspelt and also given year does not match volume number.
[7] {Hwang-1999} J. Hwang, 1999, Phys. Rev. D, 60, 103512.
The reference does not conform to APS style as written. The program has tried to interpret the style used; it has successfully resolved the intended journal reference but unsuccessfully resolved the author name.
[8] {Davydov} A. S. Davydov, Sov. Phys. Rev. B 25, 898 (1982)
The journal, volume, and page do not match a valid APS reference. The program has tried to seek valid matches based on the first author's surname and one initial and combinations of the volume and page. No such matches were found.
[9] {quintessence-pert} P. T. P. Viana, and A. R. Liddle, 1998, Phys. Rev. D, 57, 674
This is a nonstandard style for APS references. The year of publication (in parentheses) should appear after the page number at the end of the reference.
[10] {RH} P. Rosenau and J. M. Hyman, Compactons: solitons with finite
wavelength, Phys. Rev. Lett., 70 (1993) 5 64-567.
The program has tried unsuccessfully to resolve the details of a nonstandard reference style, e.g., titles of papers, issue numbers, and page ranges should not appear.
Examples of spurious errors
[11] {Zhu} Very recently, it has been shown that in this model z has the
same value independent of spatial dimensionality, J. - Y. Zhu and Z. R.
Yang, Phys. Rev. E 59, 1551 (1999)
The reference style is actually acceptable but the program has had difficulties detecting the start of the author list.
[12] {lipperheide} H.Fiedeldey, R. Lipperheide, G, H, Rawitscher and S.
A. Sofianos, Phys. Rev. C 45, 2885 (1992)
The program expects commas between author names and proper use of periods. It is common for the program to detect small errors in style or in TeX as well as errors in the actual reference.
[13] {Jefferson} J. Kamphorst Leal da Silva, A. G. Moreira, M. Silv\'{e} rio Soares and F. C. S\'{a} Barreto, Phys. Rev. E 52, 4527 (1995)
This is a spurious error. The program has had problems resolving some complicated author names. |
